Volume 1 Number 1 October 2007 Dear Reader, In this edition we have the honor of having Sharon R. Williams-Jackson, Vice President of Government Markets at Amerigroup Corporation. Ms. Williams-Jackson is an advocate for positive youth development of all youth. Her career displays her deep commitment to children, youth, and families. As a board member of the Detroit Youth Foundation, her dedication to urban youth is champion in the new innovative Youthville facility in Detroit. Youthville is on the cutting edge of serving young people, giving opportunities for young people not available in many post industrial centers. Ms. Williams-Jackson has served in different capacities in her career that allows her insight both as an advocate, parent and professional. In that continuum her community leadership is shown in this essay regarding public health and youth of urban America. It is a privilege to have Sharon R. Williams-Jackson as a community partner sharing her expertise with the Journal of Urban Youth Culture. It is my hope that America takes a good look at Youthville, and follows the lead of this wonderful productive organization of which Sharon R. Williams-Jackson represents.
